Typhoon Milenyo
Bicol was the first to feel the onslaught of Milenyo. The Bicolanos has just been recovering from the threat of volcanic eruption of Mount Mayon but it was Milenyo that hammered away at the landscape of the Bicol region destroying everything in its path. Milenyo also ravaged the provinces of Quezon, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite. Nothing was spared from its wrath not even Metro Manila, leaving a path of destruction. Milenyo brought half of the Luzon island back to the dark ages. Half of the Luzon power grid have no electrity because a number of the power transmission tower lines were toppled down due to the powerful winds. Roofs were flown away, trees were uprooted from the ground and the concrete they stood with. Some billboards supported by steel frames fell down and destroyed nearby structures. Everyone was helpless, nothing else can be done but watch the fury of the storm thru the window and listen to its howl as everyone wait for Milenyo to pass away.
The aftermath was chaotic. The once illustrious cityscape of Metro Manila has been turned into like warn torn cities. Along the highways you can see a long line of fallen trees. Sadly, some of them are elders that stood for many years. Many are in anguish because of their losses. The homes and properties that was destroyed and the lives that was lost. They cannot be angry with nature. All they can do is accept their fate. Some have turned their ire onto other men. To the men of greed who erected ubiquitous monstrous symbols of their power. Symbols that has caused damage and have taken a number of lives. These men of greed have acquired power and wealth because many foolish men has been enticed to patronize them. How tragic it is that even a supertyphoon cannot blow away.
The only consolation we had from Milenyo is that he temporarily got rid of the duenge outbreak that has been plaguing us lately. The other good thing that happened is that he got rid one of the eyesores in the cityscape, the political billboard ads, like the one in Pasig along C-5/Bagong Ilog, you'll notice a fountain under the flyover, it was built by the city government. Back then you'll see a billboard in front of the fountain that says 'This Project was made by Pasig City Mayor Pesteng Usebiyo. Also thank you to Councilor Mandarambong, Barangay Chairmain Salumpwet' you know what I mean. You can hardly appreciate the beauty of the fountain because the big sign is blocking it. The storm had torn it away, and right now when you pass it you'll get to notice the lovely the fountain. Pasig looks much cleaner without the political billboards. I wish Milenyo had blown away all the dirty politicians with him, our lives would be much better without them. Good riddance

yeah i wished that too... darn politicians! my only consolation with these mongrels is they'll definitely rot in hell! One of the many big reasons why i believe in God... he promised to send all those bad people in hell.
